After two days in what I now percieve as hell in the worlds oldest rainforest (Kao Sok), we finally got to the beach! Koh Samui is a pretty big island off of thailand's eastern coast, so apart from beaching it and napping there's plenty to keep us distracted.
The jungle was not as exotic as one might think: mosquitoes (all day, every day), leeches (which managed to suck the blood out of 9 of us, me excluded- thank god!), fat 15 cm long black scorpions chilling outside our hut doors and monkeys (in our bathroom. yup). The other girls were even more unlucky and had to listen to rats chewing away at their chips and cookies all night long! That should help you understand why all of us are glad to be out of there!
Last night we all went to Chaweng Beach (the longest and most popular beach on the island) and had dinner at the most perfect restaurant right on the beach; pillows, low tables, torches and all. The pricelist blew us away but I decided to splurge and ended up paying 11 euros for a two course meal (with fresh fish!) and an excellent long island ice tea! We decided to get a different taste of thailand and went to watch a cabaret show featuring lady boys at their best. I have never seen anything like it and pretty much sat there in awe for two hours, singing along to all of the famous tunes the were lip-synching to.
Tomorrow we head off to Koh Tao (turtle island), a smaller island not too far away from where we are now that has an excellent reputation for diving/snorkeling. And we get to stay there for three days (our longest stay in any one place thus far! woohoo!) so we're all looking forward to settling down and lazing around a bit more.
Thai internet cafes may be plentiful but they aren't anywhere close to what we (I) would consider fast, thus picture uploading remains a difficulty (believe me, I would love to post pics from the beach and the lady boys!!!)
Having successfully avoided the midday sun, I think i'll hit up the beach again:)
and no worries - I have been religious about applying sunscreen
(not something my fellow british travellers can claim! muahahaha!)

kajaaaaaa! i am soo jealous right now.beach???are you freakin kidding me? although the rainforrest experience sounds horrendous. i was picturing indiana jones and the temple of doom-type tunnel scenes while reading your blog post. scorpions? i bet there were spiders too...I'M GETTING ALL ITCHY WRITING THIS! i cannot wait to see pics! i took some pics myself over the weekend. went to the house of lords...which was really fun. i mean we mostly waited around all day and went for a discgusting lunch (my pate was actually green kaja, GREEEEEEN!) but we got thanked for our efforts and they called me the next day and want me to come help them with signing on wednesday! and cause fiona's away on vacation i get to do it all by myself! other than that went for work drinks on friday night which ended at karaoke. so that was fun...then on saturday went to borough market with leeanne, rox, rhea, alex, and a bunch of other people and we bought yummy bread and butter and sat by the tate modern and ate and joked around and then chilled in the evening watching movies including knocked up my new official fav...i am obsessed...have you seen it? cause if not and you get an oportunity to then u HAVE to see it! anyways, then on sunday i went to the arsenal game with mark and two clients...the clients were fine and the game was fun but also a little boring...and then after me and mark walked around and went for lunch and then in the evening i chilled. and then today we went to a little pub in nottinghill and chilled outside in their beer garden. i have to take you it's surreal...and then i made "jokino" which was yummy but nowhere near as good as mom's. apparently i have my review tmrw morning at 10, but i mean we'll see...i'm not getting all nervous again (but i am gonna dress appropriatly). so that's everything that went down...you'll hear it all again in person and on a few (PRIVATE) facebook msges...drgac j pa z tisto mojo frendico ki zdaj tukaj pri meni zivi, vse v redu...mislim mal mi gre itak na zivce ampak sej je kul...danes smo vidle steven-a na televiziji in sem ji pol povedala kaj je njena sestra takrat o nji rekla...itak ne tako grdo kot smo se me o tem pogovarjale, ampak to da je rekl da ona tolk daje, pa ne dobi nic nazaj bla bla BLAH. drgac nisem se nic od paula slisala...v zvezi z T.C. mislim...aja pa sorry da nisem danes telefona slisala. bil je v zepu od hlac in na silent. but yeah call me at that time every day if you can...so that it's like 9 my time...cause i miss my little sister! oh and when you can email or txt me a number where you are and i can call you from work! hehehe so anyways, i'd better go to bed...but i miss you SO much and i can't believe the next time i'm gonna see you we're gonna be on paradise! (well at least a different sort of paradise than the one you're at now)...i'm already scouting out my key pieces for this season...but just in case make sure you buy plety of stuff cause you know i'm gonna be borrowing yours anyway ;) prosim pazi nase and keep writing on your blog cause i wanna now evertyhing. oh and don;t forget to send me private facebook msgs about the realy good stuff ;)...love, your big sister

Hope your having a good time with the British people and watch them turn lobster red! Is their a girl with Freckles with burned shoulders and skin peeling! There is always one of those British girls hehe :) anyways beside that everything is good, keeping busy as per usual. The weather has just started to get hot here now so you can't claim all the glory of beautiful weather! Now if the Rhein would magically turn into a beach we would be on level par :) Have a fantastic time and I can't wait to see the pics, and not of the ladyboys before u make a joke ;) keep going hun we are living through you :) speak to u soon.

So i am just gonna join the rest and say, damn it i am jealous.. except the whole jungle thing all of a sudden, rats are the worst thing, i'd take a scorpion over a rat any day... And nice, monkeys in the bathroom, thats not weird at all...... Reminds me actually last weekend i went to a a zoo park thingy, WAY too small to be a national park, but way to big to be a zoo.. with lions and giraffes and rhinos and everything.. you drive in your car into different areas of the world, the african sahvanna with the zebras etc... and then wehn you are out of one area you get to a parking space where you can park the car get out and the first place there were goats you could go into, like little ones, baby goats, and they were the cutest, tumbelig around, couldn't quite walk.. hahaha. next parking thingy was a monkey park, so you walked in the are and there were all kinds of monkeys. My sister wanted to take a photo, so she went real close to one, and all of a sudden it jumped toward her, and knocked her phone out of her hands. you should have heard her she SCREAMED!!! was hilarious. and the lions were boring, they were just lying there..... oh and you know how a gorilla spends its day???? i'll tell you, 59% sleep- 40% eat- 1% other. AND THATS IT! Bet you are acting like a gorilla at the moment.. hehe.. i wish i could.. but i am reviewing biology, but it so much fun as its what we went through ages ago, with DNA and chromosomes and everything... good times huh..... can't wait to read your next blog.. love it when you have news... don't get too close to them ladyboys and sweetie, take care of yourself! Wow your trip sounds absolutely fabulous!! SO jealous! I don't think I would habe survived the rainforest though....you know me, I just don't function with all the creepy crawlies ;-) I can just imagine from your writing how beautiful everything is, long beaches, fresh sea food lovely people. Sounds perfect to me! Only a couple more weeks and you'll with Colleen, its gonna be so exciting! She is so looking forward to it and I am so happy that you'll be there to check how she is doing ;-) You'll be her first official visitor, thats an honor! ;-)
Things over here are excellent. I am still in london, leaving with your sis. Its a lot of fun! Kinda feels like back in high school but just better. Chilling together, cooking, endless laughs and just enjoying each others company. My project at work is going well and I have decided to join you all in Hvar this summer. Yeppie, so we get to see eachother and you can tell us all about you exciting experiences.

kaja it all sounds so amazing!! yep...u guessed it im jealous!! haha dont think any of us can say that enough!! well done with the jungle!!! scorpians n spiders...erm no thanks haha but monkeys....reminds me of when we were in tanzania on safari n a load of baboons ran into our camp and stole all of our bananas and our breakfast of bread n jam!!!! not impressed haha!!!
im still in cardiff working away...works really been getting me down recently...3 big pieces of cwk n 5 exams which start on monday!!! trust me id do anythin 2 be on a beach right now!!! seriously stressed out is probs the best way to decribe me right now but im gettin the slowly but surely!! the sun started shinning today and its actually just about 20 degrees which never happens in cardiff!!! shocking haha!!! rachel n i r gonna take a break from work in a min n go chill out in the only pub in cardiff which has a proper beer garden so whether we'll actually find a seat out there or have to sit inside is another matter! was telling andy about your blog and he was very jealous too!! he said to say hi and is looking forward to meeting you at somepoint lol!!! it was his brothers 18th birthday a couple of weeks ago n i had to meet 39 yes 39 new memebers of the family!!! hmmm lets just say i was slightly scared lol especially when andy ditched me n went straight for the bar as soon as we got there haha!!! men eh?!
i really hope you are having the experience of a lifetime!! (really sounds like it!!!) and that you keep living each day as it comes and enjoy every second you have out there!!!

KAJA! Thailand...stop going crazy places and get on over to Boston! Please please please let me know when you will be there and i will definitely come up and see you! I am actually going to be in Frankfurt this fall with the law firm I am working for. I am excited, but also scared, Im going by myself, dont know anyone...so who knows! I start work for them in late june at their new york office and go to frankfurt in the fall! So when you are in new york or boston, let me know, because we absolutely need to get together! Hopefully we can drag lauren out with us too!

Kaja!! Dude you are pretty much living the dream right now. Yesterday I watched that show on Animal Planet called Growing up Orangutan and there was this baby and her mother rejected her and the people in THAILAND raised her and she was so cute! So if you see one please pack it up and ship it to me ok? I bet you're having so much fun.... live it up while you are over there! That is such an amazing experience.
Texas is boring at the moment, I just had my last final exam today so I'm officially a SENIOR! Woohoo. But in a couple weeks I move to Galveston to start my sea turtle internship and class so that will be fun. While you are here visiting me we have to go snorkeling or SCUBA diving! I can't wait until you come, you're going to experience really good BBQ and country dancing and cowboy boots and good American BEER! Haha but we're really not that country, we have other clubs and stuff to do, and I've never ever ridden a horse. But anyways continue to have an amazing time and keep posting so I can procrastinate at work!! I love you and can't wait until you get to my side of the world! Have fun!!
